The fourth monthly Bitcoin Meetup in Lusaka, Zambia took place on November 19th, 2022 at Scallywags Cafe & Restaurant (BTC accepted). The meetup was organised by Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF) as part of its Bitcoin education initiative.
The first Bitcoin only meetup in Zambia took place in Lusaka in June 2020 at the University of Zambia. The second Bitcoin only meetup took place in July 2022 at the same venue. The third Bitcoin Meetup, which the BFF founder, Anita Posch, attended, took place on October 2nd, 2022 at Scallywags Restaurant & Cafe.
During our November Bitcoin Meetup, two main topics were discussed: the importance of self-custody and the pros and cons of trading. The topic of self-custody is extremely important at the moment following the fall of FTX. As for the second topic, it should be noted that there are many people in Zambia who have lost money because of bitcoin trading scams due to lack of knowledge and promises of fast money.
Thanks to Scallywags Restaurant and Cafe and UncleDV for hosting and feeding us!
BFF is a non-profit initiative raising knowledge and understanding of Bitcoin for people in emerging countries and for disadvantaged people. The Bitcoin meetups are part of its public bitcoin education activities. Other bitcoin meetups organised and sponsored by BFF have taken place in Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
