First Bitcoin Meetup in Gweru took place on July 9, 2022. Gweru is a city in the central of Zimbabwe. It’s the third largest city in Zimbabwe with a population of more than 200,000 people.
The meetup was sponsored by Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF) and organised by Langa Chiruka [the author of this article]. BFF is a non-profit initiative raising knowledge and understanding of bitcoin for people in emerging countries and for disadvantaged people.
BFF was founded by Anita Posch, a Bitcoin advocate, educator, podcaster, and the author of (L)earn Bitcoin – Become Financially Sovryn.
There were 20 attendees at the event, which took place at Antelope park. The speakers at the event were myself and Alexander Gowera. I spoke about about the history of money, bitcoin, proof of work, and decentralization. Gowera talked about earning bitcoin and bitcoin mining in Zimbabwe.
