Bitcoin Meetup in Lusaka With Anita Posch

The third Bitcoin Meetup in Lusaka, Zambia took place on October 2nd, 2022 at Scallywags Cafe & Restaurant. The Cafe accepts Bitcoin. The meetup was organised and sponsored by Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF). In attendance was BFF founder, Anita Posch. She is a Bitcoin advocate, educator, podcaster, and the author of (L)earn Bitcoin – Become Financially Sovryn.

The first Bitcoin only meetup in Zambia, sponsored by BFF, took place in Lusaka in June 2020 at the University of Zambia. The second Bitcoin only meetup took place in July 2022 at the same venue.

BFF is a non-profit initiative raising knowledge and understanding of Bitcoin for people in emerging countries and for disadvantaged people. The Bitcoin meetups are part of its public bitcoin education activities. Other bitcoin meetups organised and sponsored by BFF have taken place in Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

During the meetup, the following demonstrations took place:

  • How to buy Bitcoin with Kwacha via azte.co
  • How to buy airtime for MTN, Airtel or Zamtel with bitcoin via Bitrefill
  • How to use Machankura8333 to send and receive Lightning Bitcoin via feature phone (USSD code)
  • How to send Lightning Bitcoin from Machankura8333 to a Lightning address
  • How to setup and use a Lightning address
