Workshop for Students, Entrepreneurs and NGOs Mozambique 2026

On February 27th, 2026, the first four-hour workshop drew an audience of over 80 people. Daniel from Bitcoin Famba opened the session with an introduction to Bitcoin, after which Anita deepened attendees’ understanding by demonstrating how Bitcoin works in practice – making a live purchase of airtime for one of the participants.

The discussion explored Bitcoin’s use cases for Mozambique and Africa more broadly, with a focus on how Bitcoin can be a powerful tool for addressing wealth inequality — particularly when people in the Global South adopt it earlier than their western counterparts. Many attendees were surprised to discover that Bitcoin is far more than an investment vehicle; it is an open, permissionless financial tool that levels the playing field, especially for those excluded from the traditional financial system.

Anita also drew a clear distinction between Bitcoin and crypto, cautioning that trading cryptocurrencies in pursuit of short-term gains is more often a losing game than a winning one. The session wrapped up with practical guidance on how to earn Bitcoin through Nostr – an open, decentralized protocol that enables content creators to receive Bitcoin directly for their work – as well as how to acquire Bitcoin peer-to-peer through HodlHodl.
