In March 2026, Lusaka, Zambia, two events helped expand Bitcoin education and collaboration across the region. While independently organized, both were supported by Bitcoin for Fairness (BFF), enabling Bitcoin Zambia, a Bitcoin education initiative in the country, to participate.
Bitcoin Zambia at LibertyCon Africa Lusaka
Bitcoin Zambia exhibited at LibertyCon Africa in Lusaka (March 20–21), a major gathering organized by Students For Liberty. The event brings together young African leaders, students, activists, and thinkers to engage on issues of freedom, human rights, and governance.
With our support, Bitcoin Zambia was able to attend and host an exhibition table focused on practical, hands-on Bitcoin education.
At the booth, attendees engaged with:
- Bitcoin books, including (L)earn Bitcoin by Anita (founder of Bitcoin for Fairness), locally printed in Zambia with our support
- Hardware wallets demonstrating self-custody in practice
- Stickers and materials from Bitcoin projects
- Live demos showing how to send and receive sats using mobile wallets
These interactions helped translate the concept of financial freedom into something tangible. For many attendees, it was their first direct experience using Bitcoin.
The presence of Bitcoin at LibertyCon Africa also reinforced a key idea: conversations about liberty are incomplete without addressing money. Open, borderless, and censorship-resistant financial tools are essential to advancing individual freedom.

Community Meetup in Lusaka
On March 22, immediately following LibertyCon Africa, Bitcoin Zambia hosted a community meetup in Lusaka, again with support from Bitcoin for Fairness.
The gathering brought together builders and educators from Kenya and Zambia, including:
- Jason and Sabina Gitau (@waithiraah), founders of Tando
- Linda Kariuki (@LindaKariu54810) of BitEduhub
- Humphrey Simwinga (@bitcoin_diary) of Bitcoin Vic Falls
The session created space for an open and practical exchange of ideas, experiences, and lessons learned across different countries and contexts.
More than anything, the community meetup highlighted the importance of collaboration. Across Africa, Bitcoin adoption is being driven not by theory, but by communities building solutions that respond to real needs.

Supporting Local Action
These two moments, one at a large continental conference, the other in a smaller, focused meetup, demonstrate how different types of engagement play complementary roles in growing the ecosystem.
By supporting Bitcoin Zambia participation in LibertyCon and enabling the Lusaka community meetup with visitors from Kenya, Bitcoin for Fairness helped create opportunities for both public education and deeper collaboration.
