Keynote at Adopting Bitcoin in Cape Town: “Cypherpunks vs. Wall Street: Bitcoin’s Revolutionary Ethos”

Cypherpunks 2025: “We cannot expect governments, corporations, or other large, faceless organizations to grant us Bitcoin out of their beneficence. It is to their advantage to tweak it, and we should expect that they will try to change it. We must defend our financial freedom if we expect to have any. The technologies of the past did not allow for strong privacy and uncensorable ownership, but electronic technologies do.”

“Bitcoin is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a free and fair money that does not discriminate.” – Anita

Why Bitcoin For Fairness Stays Relevant

“Maybe the future is counting on us to do things so it can arrive. We are not doing things because the past made us. We are doing things because the future asked us to.” – Seth Godin

Goals for Next Year

The mission of Bitcoin for Fairness is to build Bitcoin capacity where it’s needed most – fostering a fair, accessible financial system that doesn’t discriminate or oppress.

In 2026 we continue our work with a focus on capacity and decentralized infrastructure building, supporting the use of Bitcoin as money and strengthening censorship resistance and privacy in the Global South.

From January to May founder Anita and program director Francis Miller will advance Bitcoin education on the ground across Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia.

Bitcoin For Fairness will provide Crack the Orange scholarships to emerging educators, and support local initiatives through micro-grants and mentorship throughout the year 2026.
